Il Bianco Il Torchio 2020
The Vermentino Liguria di Levante del Torchio rises on soils full of earth in depth and with silica grafts in depth. The proximity of the Apuan Alps and the sea wind that sell this place and perfectly identify this vine in the geographical area. The selected grapes are macerated for about two days on the skins, then svinato and made to ferment with indigenous yeasts in steel tanks where they stand for another 8 months in aging.
Il Torchio
Castelnuovo Magra is a town that rises on the Colli di Luni, where the Magra river naturally separates Liguria from Tuscany. A few kilometers from La Spezia, continuing along the coast towards the south, you notice a hilly area to the east which, like a serpentone, rests on the Tosco Ligue Apennines and the Apuan Alps. This is the heart of Lunigiana that brings with it an important gastronomic depth, Mediterranean in the eyes and mountain in the bones. Il Torchio is a farm run by the very young Gilda, Edoardo and Alessandro, entirely organic. The vineyards stretch for 6.5 ha all positioned in a beautiful amphitheater just below the village. The soils are rich in silica and particularly rocky with the ability to give the Vermentino a truly unique Mediterranean character. From the farm you can see the sea, the light and you can hear the wind blowing. Il Torchio was founded in 1978, thanks to Giorgio Tendola, the grandfather of Gilda and Edoardo, who had the ability over the years to combine micro plots of land, planting Vermentino, the main grape of the Colli di Luni. Gilda and Edorardo take over the company after the death of their grandfather and Alessadino joins the team after the experience in London as a Sommelier. The idea of Torchio is clear, sustainable viticulture and vinification of local artisans without oenological devices. The total production is around 35000 bottles.
