Veneto wines
Veneto is certainly the highest wine producing region in Italy with its 14 DOC and 29 DOCG wines.
The internationally renowned flagship is undoubtedly Amarone, which, like Valpolicella, Ripasso, Recioto and Bardolino, is made from the indigenous grape varieties Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara.
Trebbiano, Lugana, Garganega, Vespaiola for the whites, Friularo for Raboso, Tocai rosso but also vinifications with international vines, especially for the reds such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc.
What has made Veneto wine international in the world is Prosecco, with Charmat vinification of Glera in autoclaves, even if more and more winemakers are leaving autoclaves for only bottle fermentation with indigenous yeasts.
