The Chianti Classico of Tenuta di Carleone has been strongly thought of and wanted as the purest expression of traditional Chianti, being its vineyards located in the most beautiful territories of the Municipality of Radda. The vinification takes place in steel, cement and porcelain egg where the venus is left to macerate for 40 - 60 days. It is aged for 18 months in steel and concrete containers.
Sean O'Challigan has put his stamp on Radda by succeeding in transporting the magic of high-purity sangiovese fruit and acid pop. The wine attacks with a strong reminder of fruit flesh emphasizing how clean and juicy the glass promises. The wine's versatility goes beyond the finesse of products made from neighboring vineyards, it descends into the darkness of expressiveness that captivates every taster until they can no longer tame the urge to drink.
Tenuta di Carleone
The Austrian entrepreneur Karl Egger and his family have been visitors and great fans of the Tuscan region for decades. She is in love with a small corner, just outside the medieval town of Radda in Chianti, between the cities of Siena and Florence, the Tenuta Carleone di Castiglioni in the heart of Chianti.
This winery today takes its name from the small village of "Castiglioni" which was first mentioned in 1078 when the monks of "Badia al Coltibuono" founded it. There is also a typical Tuscan farmhouse called "Pian Vecchio" on this land, where the family has recently planted white grapes. The entire property, which covers an area of about 100 hectares, includes wooded hills, small rivers and fertile plains. Set in the middle there are about 20 hectares of vineyards mainly Sangiovese and over 10 hectares of olive trees, some of which are over 60 years old. The Egger family has renovated the beautiful village "Castiglioni" with its ancient chapel and the nearby farmhouse of "Pian Vecchio".
The winery Tenuta di Carleone was born in 2012. Sean O'Callaghan, for his friends "IL GUERCIO", after having been part of the recent history of Riecine, joined the Egger family to help build a small artisan winery that produces a classic Sangiovese with a magical touch, the touch of Sean. Organic and biodynamic principles are applied in the vineyard. Nothing is added to wines, grappa or olive oil. Yeast and clarifying agents are not used. The result is in everyone's eyes.
