Markus Molitor annually deprives himself of unique pieces directly from his cellar. Perfectly preserved bottles that breathe fresh air after decades.

The cultivation of this high yield grape tends to disappear all over the world. The wine obtained from its grapes contains little acidity, is fruity and has a certain muscat flavor. For over a century it has been thought that it was a cross between Riesling x Sylvaner. In 1996, following some DNA analyzes, it was first thought that it was a cross between Riesling x Chasselas, but shortly after this statement was corrected: its real parents are Riesling and Madeleine Royale.
This high-yielding vine needs nutrient-rich soils and cold climates; in most cases it is vinified dry. Fresh and fruity wines, low in acidity, should be drunk young and have a pale light yellow color.

Three Senses
Rinaver 1988!!!! A thrill just uncorking it. A perfectly brilliant color with even still greenish reflections. The nose has its aromatic profile of white spices and candied fruit. A finish of oxidized apple to testify to time. Tightness in the mouth is surprising considering the varietal lacks the acidity of Riesling. Persuasive and sharp profile. Iodinated palate. To be enjoyed alone.

Markus Molitor

Markus Molitor in his vineyards

In 1984, at the tender age of 20, Markus Molitor took over his father's winery with a clear goal: to produce Mosel Riesling under the name "Molitor" in the tradition of eight generations and in the same quality that made the region famous around the world 100 years ago. . The 100-year-old ungrafted vines that represent the basis of all its wines, rise on very steep slopes that reach up to 80%. The harvest is almost always late and fermentations are always spontaneous. The ownership of the vineyards that today counts the estate extends for about 40 hectares and includes famous climat in the central Moselle such as: Zeltingen Sonnenhur (where there is a sundial, as in the vineyards of Wehlen or Brauneberg, but which dates back to 1611), Zeltinger Schlossberg, Zeltinger Himmelreich, Ürziger Würzgarten, Erdener Treppchen, Wehlener Sonnenhur, Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst are just some of the grand crus in which it has vineyards. Markus Molitor today produces 150 different Rieslings, including 60 Auslese, 13 Eiswein and 15 TBA.
