Whisky Machir Bay Kilchoman
Founded in 2004 on the Isle of Islay, it broke the long 130-year period in which no new distilleries began operations on the island. Anthony Wills, founder and owner, wanted to transform his Rockside Farm into a family-run distillery. Approximately 60 hectares of the property are planted with wheat which is used for a 100% Islay label, malted in house. The remaining malt comes from the very famous Port Ellen malthouse.
Machir Bay is a Single Malt distilled discontinuously in pot still, which owes its character to slow distillation and long fermentation. It ages 90% in ex-bourbon and 10% in ex-sherry. Strong Islay-style peating.
