Montecitorio is a single vineyard white wine produced by Walter Massa in the vineyard with a higher chalky matrix than the other vineyards of the property which extend for 23 hectares. Walter Massa, who was the first to bring this vine almost completely extinct from the pre-phylloxera massacre back to light at the end of the 1990s, has always imagined a free and natural wine. Its fermentations are all activated with indigenous yeasts. The wine is left to macerate on the skins for 1/2 days. Over the years, Timorasso has proven that it can withstand long aging and this Sterpi was created to show its highest peculiarities after a few years in the bottle.

Three Senses
In the glass it has a beautiful color that is straw yellow tending towards amber, with floral notes and the classic hints of honey and yellow fruit. On the nose: intense and complex initial impact, floral scents (acacia and hawthorn), fruity (pear). Aromas of exotic settings and honey, of innate elegance. In the mouth it is warm and dry; enveloping, with a marked taste-olfactory correspondence and a notable aromatic persistence. Excellent balance; a white that is striking for its softness on the palate, despite the important acid streak. Definitely fresher than savory. A niche wine, ready but with interesting aging prospects in the medium term, also capable of supporting challenging gastronomic combinations (peppers stuffed with tuna and capers, fresh goat's cheeses, white meats)

Walter Massa and the Family Company: The Timorasso-Pioneer on the Torton Hills!

Vigneti Massa was born in 1879, today Walter is working on a property of 23 hectares on the hills of Monleale, 300 meters above sea level. The cultivated vineyards are all autochthonous: Barbera, Croata, Freisa but the Timorasso is the undisputed star of Walter who reserves him 10 hectares.

The thought of the company continues on the work of the fathers, a careful work made of common sense and agricoltural practices, with minimal intervention. The main enemy? The tightness of the disciplinaries. Walter firmly believes that wine is the fruit of the vineyard and of the cellar and not of brands and certifications, so he has chosen, as many as done before him, to leave the DOC on his labels and pointing at the undisputed quality of his work as a true craftsman.
