Graue Freyheit Heninrich is a blend of Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Neuburger. This mixed planting vineyard thrives deeply rooted in crystalline schists and quartz schists on the Joiser Hackelsberg, on the northwest slope facing away from the Neusiedler See (Lake Neusiedl).

The Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), on the other hand, grows in limestone on the eastern slope of the Leithaber. The vines have an average age of 15-25 years. The vinification process is identical to all the other amber wines of the Heinrich estate: Fermentation in steel with the skins in contact with the must for about 15 days followed by aging in amphorae and new oak barrels for 1 year and a half about.

It maintains a relatively low alcohol content, an indication of an agile and slender wine albeit intense in its maceration.

Three Senses

Graue Freyheit is a wine between white and rosé. A wine that is free of color and can not be categorized. Graue Freyheit is colorful and aromatic. Far from the boring gray, the morning fog has arrived that rises at dawn on a day that promises to be bright and clear. The red berries and the delicate spice of black tea are an exciting bridge between depth and lightheartedness and the desire to live spring. Compact and taut with lively acidity, consistency and persistent minerality, Graue Freyheit leaves an austere aftertaste with a fresh impression. It creates an exciting symbiosis - powerful and sublimely constant, but simultaneously fluctuating. For the best fun, shake before pouring!

Heinrich

Heinrich in vigna

Great wines express a sense of place and are best able to do this when they are rooted in a biologically diverse environment where the vitality of the soil is intact and vines live in symbiosis with the complex ecosystem in which they live.

Heinrich's highest aspiration is to give nature and its many facets a voice through wines. The ways and means to achieve this are marked by many fundamental actions and decisions that set the course and reflect ethical and quality philosophies.

The Heinrich family decided to convert to biodynamic viticulture in 2006, a decision based on the goal of making the winery's own vineyards successively more resilient, more vital and more heterogeneous.

At the same time, Heinrich allows his wines and himself the freedom of less and less intervention. Regardless of the fact that all wines are fermented spontaneously and are often left on the skins for weeks, it is above all time that shapes Heinrich's wines.

To this end, the wines remain unaltered on their lees, most of the time in used wooden barrels, and develop their own unique spectrum of aromas over time. There is an awareness of these natural processes, which are closely monitored, giving rise to the idea of producing authentic and truly genuine wines.
