Terra de Cuques is a red wine whose blend is divided into Grenache and Carignan (each present for 50%). The vines are cultivated organically, grow on soils of schist and clay (for the Grenache, which is thus able to confer all its elegance) and slate (for the Carignan, which gives the wine its structure), at an altitude of around 400 metres in the territories near Torroja del Priorat and are between 25 and 40 years old.
Vinification is whole cluster and lasts about 7 to 10 days. The grapes are macerated until the desired extraction point. Fermentation is conducted by indigenous yeasts in cement and steel tanks.
Ageing of the wine lasts 8 months and is conducted in large casks and cement.
Terroir Al Limit Soc. Lda. - Torroja del Priorat
"Torroja del Priorat has become the center of my life. I feel that it’s possible to live in the traditional Mediterranean way here, with a healthy coexistence between body and spirit. Through my wines, I believe I can bring this philosophy out into the world."
After a period in Genoa, Dominik began to discover the Mediterranean character, that lifestyle in which good food accompanies the Italian days.
Dominik studied economics and marketing between London, Munich and Madrid. But it was thanks to his affinity with gastronomy and the Mediterranean style that in 1996 he did his first internship at the legendary Mas Martinet winery in Priorat, where the Perez family, together with Alvaro Palacios, initiated the rebirth of this wonderful wine-growing area. Dominik fell in love with it, returned several times to Mas Martinet and then worked there for a while.
In 2001, together with his South African oenologist friend Eben Sadie, they produced their first wine under the brand name Terroir al Limit, and that was how the story began. Terroir al Limit's aim was to work with historical vineyards of the DO Priorat and to tell the story of the finesse that this region was capable of bringing to the wines with the idea, over time, of a Burgundian interpretation of the various plots. Thus was born the story of a success that today brings Terroir Al Limit to be one of the finest expressions of the region and among the most internationally renowned companies of the Spanish artisanal wine renaissance.
Over time, Dominik wanted to convert the property to biodynamic farming, all work is done by hand, with the exception of Frida, the donkey that is used for some of the tillage.
Since 2012, Dominik has been 100% in charge of the project and in 2015 he launched the Terroir Historique project, harvesting grapes from the priory's farmers for historic and authentic expressions aged only in cement.
Subsequently the arrival of Tatiana Peceric, the line of wines in the Montsant Terroir Sense Fronteres DO was born, which tomorrow will also produce in other DOs, and finally Tatiana gives birth to her first personal expression of the Montsant DO 'Coreografìa - Pas de Deux'.
Today, the company has a total of 25 hectares with a production of up to 60,000 bottles in good vintages.
The values of the winery are encapsulated in the essence of the Mediterranean: vinification and short ageing in cement, wines to accompany traditional Mediterranean dishes. In the wines of Terroir al Limit one finds an expressive finesse across the board that one rarely encounters.
