Carema went so far as to describe Mario Soldati as the "city-vineyard", given that the vineyard populated the gardens and vegetable gardens of the steep medieval city, climbing up the slopes of Monte Maletto where Gian Marco Viano's company stands today. Thanks to him and to other young winemakers, part of this ancient viticulture has been recovered, keeping the monopoly of the Cooperative Cellar intact. After his experience as a Sommelier, Gian Marco arrived in Carema and suddenly fell in love with the place and found a vineyard of just one hectare.

In this mountain place Sole e Roccia is born, the Carema from Nebbiolo grapes in the Picotendro and Prugnet biotypes, which is vinified with its own yeasts and aged for 18 months in used barrels. In this heroic work there is the intention of bringing this place into the bottle, characterized by a soil of alluvial origin, rich in silicon, where the dry stone walls act as a container for the old vineyards with high pergolas.

Three Senses

From the first vintage elaborated by Gian Marco, the evolutions of this wine have been many and today we are faced with a great Italian wine, with an ability to summarize the territory that in this case best expresses its name: Sole e Roccia nel glass starting with a brilliant and crystalline colour, which plays with the senses in a refined performance, full of flavors and aromas. The details and its mineral substance make it an unforgettable Piedmont wine.
