The Rosso Piceno Superiore from Azienda Agricola Clara Marcelli is an organic wine resulting from the blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes.

The vineyards from which the grapes derive have an exposure towards the east (regarding the Montepulciano) and towards the west (regarding the Sangiovese).
The soil is composed of a more superficial part in which sand and clay abound and a deeper part with a majority of bioclasts. These particular soils formed by sedimentary layers are typical of this area and of the area between the Marche and Umbria Apennines.
The vines are trained by spurred cordon. Average production is around 60 quintals per hectare.

The two grapes are vinified separately. Fermentations take place in steel. The Montepulciano is then aged in small barrels, while the Sangiovese is aged in large barrels. Aging in wood lasts about 18 months and it is followed by further aging of the wine in bottle.

Clara Marcelli

Clara Marcelli Winery

In the Marche's microclimate just between the Apennines and the Adriatic coast, Clara Marcelli owns 35 hectares of hilly terrain, of which 14 are planted with grapes. The wine is produced by the only vineyards, cultivated under a certified organic regime, with the aim of offering a real product, symbol and summary of the people and traditions of the earth. The harvest is handmade, as it once was, by selecting the cluster grapes on each plant. The passion for quality wines combines the company life with the one of the nearby Marco Casolanetti, Oasi degli Angeli, who works as a consultant both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
