The parcel in Anne Gros' Grand Cru Echezeaux extends for just 0.76ha, in what is considered the third largest Grand Cru by extension. The lieux dits of Echezeaux are 10, each with very different characteristics, but that of Les Loachausses is entirely in the hands of the Gros dynasty. It was only in 2007 that Anne Gros regained possession of her vineyard, as it was leased to Domaine Gros for 25 years. The vines have an average age of 30 years and usually produce wines with clear and greedy fruit. After taking over management of the vineyard, Anne Gros began working according to her methods, eliminating herbicides and changing the pruning system. Valuable results were immediately seen, also due to the composition of the soil which meets a partly gravelly matrix with a deeper fossil presence. The Echezeaux Grand Cru Anne Gros is exalted more with each passing year thanks also to a tannic complexity acquired with the culture of this vigneron with a fairy hand.

Three Senses

Anne Gros' Clos Vougeot is often characterized by an impressive fullness; its sometimes somewhat austere and monolithic power is balanced by ripe tannins. This high expression of Burgundy Pinot Noir has a romantic and elegant character, with a purple colour, pronounced aromas of cherry, plum and blackcurrant, enhanced by notes of pepper, cloves and nutmeg. The structure of the wine prepares it for a long ageing, but its great peculiarities can still be appreciated when young with tannin and structure in the foreground.
