Portugal wines

Portugal is one of those areas in the world where talking about heroic farmers is an everyday occurrence, given its vertiginous slopes especially along the Douro river, an area famous for the production of Port.

Port can be of two types: made from white grapes (Rabigato, Malvasia Fina, etc) but is best made from red grapes such as Tempranillo, Tourriga Nacional e Tourriga Francesa.

The types of Port are: Ruby aged only two years, is the basic Port with mixed grapes, the Tawny young or aged up to even 30 years, the LBV in cask for 4 to 6 years, the Vintage the most courtly, made only from grapes of the best vintages, vintage, mature in cask for at least two years and can age in the bottle very long.

Lesser is the production of dry wines, both white and red, not in terms of quality however, only in terms of quantity due to the very high focus on Port or Madeira, another great Portuguese excellence. Fortified wines are made from  Bual, Malmsey, Sercial and Verdelho grapes and on the label they will pass as Finest (3 years in barrel), Reserve (5 years), Special Reserve (10 years), Extra Reserve (15 years) and Vintage Madeira at least 20 years in barrel.
