Chateau Simone

Chateau Simone

In all the wine regions of France that is respected, excellence is found, unattainable for all the others. Even in Provence, the Chateau Simone estate has left its mark for 7 generations. With its 23 hectares of vineyards, started in the construction of the caves in the seventeenth century by the usual monks, this splendid "Castle" surrounded by woods belongs to the Rougier family. In fact, as far back as the nineteenth century, the name is attributed by the Demoiselle de Simon called "La Simone". The current management is in the hands of Renè Rougier who follows in the footsteps of his father Albert, the true initiator of the excellence of the wines of the AOC Palette.
The vineyards are a heritage for all of France, being some of these over one hundred years old replanted after the phylloxera massacre. The plants are all set with a classic sapling, with two buds to have a very contained yield. The soils are calcareous, with traces of clay, covered with stones and fossils of all types and sizes. Especially in the cellar you can breathe the air of those sacred places of wine, you want for a whole series of tunnels built by the monks and that act as natural cellars creating a perfect environment, but also because everything is done in an impressive tradition and maniacality, using vertical presses (Rougier trademark) for very high must quality at the expense of quantity. In addition to the white that is one of the sacred monsters of the transalpine labels, the best rosé of the world is also produced at Chateau Simone, according to many wine enthusiasts and red. Great wines with blue blood that defy time.
