Far from the stereotype of the opulent and aromatic Chassagne-Montrachet, this great Chassagne Montrachet is tense and mineral, of great purity and brightness. Already extroverted in his youth, he will benefit in terms of complexity from further refinement in the bottle.

Armand Heitz

Heitz Lochardet

Around 1865 George Lochardet purchased from the Nié-Vantey family (forced to sell because of the problems brought by the phylloxera) several hectares of vineyards in the Cote de Beaune. At the time of his death, Armand inherited half of the vineyards, which went hand in hand to his three sons Bernard, Chaterine and Brigitte. The latter married Christian Heitz in 1983. The vineyards were leased to the Maison Drouhin by agreeing on organic viticulture. In 2011 another Armand, Brigitte's son, becomes an oenologist and gradually takes over the management of all the family vineyards, now conducted under biodynamic regime, which is not yet certified. Starting in 2013, the marketing of the current Domaine label began. Approximately 5 hectares of vines are cultivated since 2015, mostly in the best cru of the Côte de Beaune. Over the next few years, at the expiration of rental contracts, the Domaine will gradually return to possession of all the other vineyards owned.
The philosophy of Armand, a young ambitious and very clear idea, provides wines that respect the characteristics of terroir, pure and fine, rather than structure and power. White wines reflect exactly this philosophy. Red wines, although suitable for constitution even in the short-medium-term consumption, benefit from a refining period for aromatically developing components made from whole grape vinification.
