With Town Red it is the area of Sam's possessions, where the land is composed only of clay. It is precisely in this lot that its older vineyards are found that bring out mighty wines as an excellent compromise of acidity and well-dosed spices. We can call it the greatest corporate cru.
The selection of grapes in the vineyard is very rigid to bring only the best to the cellar. Vinification takes place in concrete tanks, without any filtration and no temperature control. The wine is then made to rest in steel and bottled without further aging other than the one that will follow in the bottle.

Sam Vinciullo

Sam Vinciullo, after finishing his studies in oenology in Adelaiede, has been experience in cellars around the world for a few years, where he deepens his studies on soils, until in 2010 he landed on Etna at the court of Frank Cornelissen intrigued by volcanic soils. This collaboration opens up a world for him; really starts to understand how to grow vines and work with your environment.
In 2013 he decided to try to make his first wine in his garage under the label "SRC" (an acronym that represented Sam, Rori and Cinzia). Unfortunately, his financial partner, a powerful Sicilian businessman, gives up the business. In 2015 he decided to return to Australia to open his own company. The company is located in West Australia precisely in Cowaramup in the Margaret River region.
The first two vintages are obtained with grapes bought from two of his historical friends who have his own philosophy in "pampering the vineyards" (Iwo and Sarah del Domaine Si Vinters) located on soils that he knows very well (clay and gravel). Sam then in 2017 buys his 3 hectares which will then become 6. He is faithful to the philosophy of Less is more: no systemic products, no added sulphites, no filtration, no additives, no wood. The vineyards, which are found on predominantly sandy soils with varying amounts of gravel, range in age from 21 years to 34 years, and are planted in Shiraz (Syrah), Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay.
Despite the certainly unconventional style and the absolute absence of chemistry both in the vineyard and in the cellar, Sam is a fanatic of cleanliness and everything you have to do to get there: manual selection in the vineyard of the grapes and reading of the vintage. His wines are the perfect representation of this part of Margaret River, they are the result of a talented vigneron that has the sensitivity to enhance the terroir that welcomed him.
