The Barolo dei Fratelli Fantino is elaborated starting from the old vines of over 60 years of age located in the area of Dardi in the extended cru of Bussia. Dardi has always been considered an integral part of the Bussia Soprana, even if from a winegrowing point of view it has always enjoyed its identity, linked to the excellent exposure of the vines. Giannatale and Alessandro refine the nebbiolo for 5 years in large barrels of Slavonia, after having fermented the grapes spontaneously for about a month. After a12 -month rest in bottle, Barolo is marketed.

Alessandro and Gian Natale Fantino, run the family estate in Monforte d'Alba in the historic center of town, inside a 17th-century palace. Alessandro managed the vineyards and he was cellarman in Bartolo Mascarello's winery for 20 years, from 1978 to 1997. Since 1998 he has dedicated himself to his family's estate alongside his brother full time.
The brothers farm eight hectares in the heart of the historic Bussia cru north of Monforte, one of Barolo's most famous areas for producing wines of great longevity and finesse. Fantino's holdings are concentrated exclusively in the "Dardi" section of Bussia, a hillside with perfect southern and southeastern exposure at the geographic center of Bussia.
Barolo from Bussia, one of the true icons of the appellation capable of making fans from all over the world dream, tends to have the deep color and rich fruit but the classic tannic structure of Nebbiolo from this area-Bussia Dardi-is not as hard as Barolo from the south side of Monforte or from Serralunga. This fact does not prevent Fratelli Fantino's Barolos from aging but makes them pleasantly appealing even when young. The vines planted in 1946 and 1947 are pruned in the old style and they produce grapes that would be the envy of any Barolista.
