At the beginning of the 19th century, John Lewis Brown, an animal painter of Scottish origin, bought the vineyard in this corner of Bordeaux. In his plans there is the desire to build a castle in full English Renaissance style: thus begins the construction of Cantenac Brown, where legend has it that sparkling evenings will be organized thanks to this artist who loves good wines. The Chateau was sold in 1843 to a banker named de Gromard, just a few years before it fell into the Troisieme Cru Classée category in the 1855 classification. One hundred and fifty years later, the Halabi family, now owners of this Chateau, brings a new impetus, with the ambition to raise it to an ever higher level. As a first choice the lutte raisonnée for the management of the vineyards, respecting nature more and more, thanks to careful attention throughout the year in every phase of the plant and through the use of strictly plant-based fertilizers. The great work of Cantenac Brown's team focuses on the traditional method of nourishing the soil, to favor all the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. This attention and care of some of the most beautiful parcels of the Margaux appellation, allows to find in the last vintages of Cantenac Brown the usual concentration, accompanied by finesse and elegance, the only distinctive sign of a great terroir.

Cantenac Brown wine is composed of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon for 65%, Merlot Noir 30%, Cabernet Franc 5%. Aging divided between new barriques and second passage barriques.
