Vermentino Di Gallura Superiore Docg Costarenas Masone Mannu 2024
Costarenas is a wine of great character, a unique expression of the Gallura territory.
The soils where the grapes for this wine are grown are mainly granite sands, rich in iron and with a good clay component.
The Vermentino grapes come from a vineyard approximately 35 years old, trained using the Guyot system.
Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand in mid-September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by aging in a combination of steel and oak barrels for about 7 months before bottling.
Tenuta Masone Mannu - Monti
Tenuta Masone Mannu is located in the territory of Monti, just a few kilometers from Olbia, nestled in an extraordinary landscape of cork oak forests, rivers, lakes, and Mediterranean scrubland. The name comes from the Logudorese dialect: "Masone Mannu" means “large estate,” and indeed it spans nearly 100 hectares, about 40 of which are planted with specialized vineyards.
Since 2018, the estate has been the focus of an important development project led by Giordano Emendatori, already the owner of Tenuta Biodinamica Mara in Romagna. The sea breeze, the vineyard exposure, and the rich natural surroundings help cultivate healthy grapes without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. For these reasons, there has been a strong commitment to biodynamic agriculture from the outset (Demeter certification has been obtained in recent years).
The vineyards are primarily dedicated to cultivating the most important grape variety of Gallura: Vermentino. This comes as no surprise, given that it is the most widespread white grape in Sardinia, though here it takes on unique characteristics. The granite-based soils, distinctive microclimate, and proximity to the sea allow Vermentino in Gallura to produce wines that are truly unique and unmistakable. Other varieties grown include Cannonau, Carignano, along with Bovale Sardo, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
